Goodwill industries of central florida: Building lives that work
Since 1959 Goodwill Industries of Central Florida has been fulfilling its mission of Building Lives That Work. We provide tools that help people overcome barriers to employment and find meaningful work. We utilize vocational services, youth programs, and disability and veteran services to enable individuals to get back on their feet, secure employment and develop their careers. Our vision is to be satisfied with our work only when every person in our community we are privileged to serve has an opportunity to develop to his or her fullest potential and enjoy a maximum of abundant living.
Goodwill Industries of Central Florida serves six counties in the local Central Florida region (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia). In 2016 we served over 49,000 people and placed over 8,500 into jobs. The 2015 state economic impact of our job placements was $283.2M with a fiscal impact of $5.3M. We are very proud not only of these numbers but also of what they represent. Each of the people we place and serve has a story, much like Nathaniel’s:
Stories of people overcoming barriers to employment to become self-sufficient, able to support families and enjoy an abundance of living are what motivates us to Build Lives That Work. We hope to equip today’s workforce for tomorrow’s jobs by providing people with the skills necessary to develop productive and meaningful careers. Cultivating a passion for lifelong learning, providing people with marketable job skills, and providing on the job trainings are all ways we hope to continue to serve those in need.
