It is the mission of Foundation for Women Warriors, formerly Military Women in Need, to serve women veterans and their children so that their next mission is clear and continues to impact the world.
Why Women Veterans?
Often overshadowed by their male counterparts, our programs honor, empower and support the women who answered our nation’s call to serve.
We connect veterans to affordable housing options, employment, professional development, transition assistance, advanced education and legal assistance.
We provide our women warriors with immediate, no-interest loans or gifts to cover emergency expenses such as medical expenses, utility bills, and other necessities. Our gifts are a hand up, and not handouts. Warrior assistance gives women warriors the short-term, high-impact relief that they need to navigate life’s obstacles and make successful life transitions
An unexpected change in rent or job status can significantly impact finances. We provide housing assistance based individual levels of need.
In collaboration with STAR Education, UCLA Foundation, and UCLA Philanthropy Civic Engagement class, we are proud to launch our pilot childcare program. STAR Summer Day Camp scholarships opportunities are available at select LAUSD School campuses (entering grades K-6th) for children of qualified women veteran mothers who are working or attending school. A Childcare Stipend Program also is available to qualified women veteran mothers. The program is available for children ages 0 to 5 years old and, if awarded, stipends are paid directly to licensed care providers.
